Date: March 5, 2003 Name: Mark Balsiger Occupation: VP-Food service Male/Female: Male Age Group: 50-54 Years in Triathlon: This is my fifth year Single or Family, if Family, how large: Single w/ family--two helalthy bikes, one permanently disabled, and one wolf dog that is increasingly frusttrated with my slow runs. Where do you live: El Paso Short paragraph of Triathlon background to include, how long you have been doing Triathlons, maybe some names of races you’ve been in, any top finishes? Four years in the SWCS--4 championships; two Ironmen -- California & Florida; Ironman Utah survivor; Team USA representative at 2002 World championship for Long Course Duathlon in Weyer, Austria Top Finishes: Anytime I beat Stermer or Jon Brown (yet to happen) Worst Finishes: Anytime I get beat by Stermer or Jon Brown. Favorite Race(s): The Worlds in Austria and the F-1 in Roswell. Funniest thing that has happened to you during a race: My famous parachute stunt at last year's stealth du. The temperature was 24 degrees and I wore this heavy jacket. At the turnaround on the bike it ballooned up like a parachute and I looked like the Goodyear blimp man. I was so grumpy even Felix held his tongue when passing me. Of course, Flip didn't. One piece of advice: Be Rocky Balboa. It's a 26 round fight--never, never, never, never give up.
