March 5, 2003 Short paragraph of Triathlon background to include, how long you have been doing Triathlons, maybe some names of races you’ve been in, any top finishes? I’ve been in the sport of triathlon for one and ½ years and in 2002 competed in most of the SW Series sprint tri’s and duathlons. Some top finishes include: ú Feb 02 White Sand Du – 2nd place female age group; 4th overall female ú Mar 02 Wind Du – 1st place female age group; 4th overall female ú Aug 02 Roadrunner Tri – 2nd place female age group ú Sep 02 Yucca Du – 2nd place female age group
I finished Buffalo Springs ½ Ironman last June 2002 – very slow; but, finished – great 1st time experience! Top Finishes: as stated above. Worst Finishes: My very first triathlon – the Milkman – I did not know how to swim and thought I could get through the swim by swimming side stroke although I’ve never swam side stroke. My friend gave me a land version of the side stroke and I was too terrified so I hung on to the rope and managed to pull myself for 500 meters. I think the race director felt sorry for me so they let me finish. Favorite Race(s): Buffalo Springs ½ Ironman Funniest thing that has happened to you during a race: My first attempt at Milkman – I started the swim with my age group and came out with the 70 + age group. One piece of advice: if you forget your running shoes, K-mart is everywhere and the plastic running shoes look like real Asics – no one will know they are fake. Big race(s) of the year: Tempe International II Buffalo Springs ½ Ironman ½ Vineman Favorite After Race recovery food: Peanut Butter, Yogurt & Protein Shake Best excuse for a bad performance: I didn’t get enough sleep Favorite Training routine: 12 mile tempo run in the valley with the fast men followed by a 27 mile bike ride with a friend who doesn’t ride very fast Short paragraph about life outside of Triathlons: truly, I’m speechless with this one. |
