Member Bio QuestionnaireDate: 03/05/03 Short paragraph of Triathlon background to include, how long you have been doing Triathlons, maybe some names of races you’ve been in, any top finishes? I did my first triathlon at Cochiti in 1990 and did maybe 5 more over the next 10 years. Two seasons ago I started training more regularly and doing several races per season. I completed my first ½ IM in 2002. Top Finishes: In 2002 – age group firsts at Los Alamos (4th overall F), Socorro Chili Harvest and the Harvest Moon Half Ironman. Worst Finishes: DNF at the Defined Fitness Du last year because of bike mechanical problems. Favorite Race(s): Farmington Freedom Days and Los Alamos. They both have challenging bike rides, Farmington is a trail run, and in both, the event order is non-standard, which makes it interesting. Funniest thing that has happened to you during a race: Someone asked me if I was Mary Uhl at the Los Alamos triathlon. One piece of advice: Keep it fun. Unless you’re a pro, take a good break during the off season. You can stay in shape doing many other things besides swim, bike and run and be physically and mentally ready to train in the spring. Big race(s) of the year: At the moment I’m focusing on the Eagleman Half Ironman in early June. Favorite After Race recovery food: The ice cream at the Milkman Tri. Best excuse for a bad performance: Used to be that I needed a new bike, but now that I have one, I’ll have to come up with another excuse. Maybe I didn’t get the right new bike? Favorite Training routine: Routine? My training is rather random. But, beating up on Rusty while simulating open water starts at Storrie Lake ranks high on my list of all-time fun workouts. Short paragraph about life outside of Triathlons: I enjoy a lot of outdoor activities: telemark and backcountry skiing, kayaking, backpacking, mountain biking…. I also enjoy good food, good wine and good friends. The problem is fitting everything in! |
