Member Bio QuestionnaireDate: 03/05/03 Short paragraph of Triathlon background to include, how long you have been doing Triathlons, maybe some names of races you’ve been in, any top finishes? My first triathlon was the MVTC Triathlon in Las Cruces in 2001. I completed my first full season last year by competing in 10 races in the SW Challenge Series. My strength is running as I’ve raced since high school but I’m slowly improving on my bike and swim areas. I’ve competed in over 40 races, running, cycling and triathlon. My top finishes last year were 2nd place at the Francis Copeland Stevens Triathlon, 3rd place at the second Bottomless Lake Tri and 25-29 age-group champion in the Southwest Challenge Series. My worst finish was my 5:13:00 time at the Buffalo Springs Half-Ironman last year. Top Finishes: 2nd Place Frances Copeland Stevens, 2002 Worst Finishes: 5:13:00 Buffalo Springs Half-Ironman,
2003 Funniest thing that has happened to you during a race: I got GU all over my hands and legs and was going crazy sticking to my handle bars during the bike leg. One piece of advice: Rest, rest and then rest some more. I noticed that the more I rest the faster and stronger I get. Big race(s) of the year: Buffalo Springs Half-Ironman Favorite After Race recovery food: Peanut Butter and Jelly and a bag of Doritos Best excuse for a bad performance: Nerves Favorite Training routine: Riding my bike in the East Mountains of Albuquerque and trail running in the Sandia Mountain foothills. Short paragraph about life outside of Triathlons: Life outside of triathlon is great. I’m an exercise nut at heart so even if I wasn’t competing in triathlon I would run, bike and swim regularly. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, reading and watching independent and foreign films. I am on a constant search to inspire and be inspired by those I come in contact with. I feel my passion for life is un-matched and my difficulty is finding people who can keep up. Living in New Mexico is great and I feel fortunate to be part of such a great place |
